The Rifle Event
The Objective:
- Knock down as many plates in the given time limit as possible.
- Times vary from 1 minute 30 seconds for Open teams to 2 minutes for
Sportsman's teams.
The Equipment:
- Eye and ear protection is mandatory.
- One 22 rimfire rifle and 3 ten round magazines per team member or 5
ten round magazines for two man teams.
- The targets are aperture plates meaning the team members must shoot
through the geometric design to knock down the plate behind.
The Procedure:
- Each team member may load the 3 or 5 magazines with only ten rounds.
- Spare rounds may be loaded only after all 30 or 50 rounds have been fired.
- The rifles will be placed on the table in front of each team member and may
not be handled until the range officer gives the command to "fire".
- All shooting must be done in the standing offhand position.
- At the range officers command of "fire" each team member may pick up their
rifles, load them and start knocking down plates.
- A score of 100 points is possible if all plates are downed.
